SERIES : Window Box

Sara Neufeld: This series displays Polaroid transfers of flowers and plants found in the back garden of the house I shared with some of my closest friends. The images were shot on 35mm color slide film and transferred onto charcoal paper. I feel intimately connected with the views I saw from my windows and want the viewer to feel at home; as if they were looking out of their windows at their own garden. This series also draws links between the fleeting lifespan of the natural world with that of the life of instant film technology, a medium that many photographers have forgotten while many others have newly embraced.

window box

Window Box is a very personal series, the artist speaking of the simple things in life, her bonds and relationships of a time in the past, which in her images evokes a clear sense of nostalgia. Sara Neufeld explores the intimacy of friendship and houses she’s been living in, on film and then on paper. The fact that she uses an authentic medium in this fast growing digital world, gives her project a real edge and distinctiveness.

I love the autumn. It is a sigh of relief after a hot summer, yet brings with it a sense of reminiscence.
